The Wine

The 2023 growing season was cool and deliberate — a year that rewarded patience. Our Cabernet blocks sit at the very top of the property at 1,000 feet, on steep volcanic hillsides that stress the vines and concentrate every berry. The result is a Cabernet of remarkable nuance: at just 12.9% alcohol, it channels the complexity and restraint of a classic Bordeaux. Forest floor, Mediterranean olive, and a precise whisper of green bell pepper give way to orange zest and cardamom on the finish. Soft, fine-grained tannins lend gentle structure without interrupting the wine’s graceful, understated elegance. A cool-year Cabernet for those who believe less is more.

The Vineyard

Estate-grown at the top of the property — six acres of steep, north-facing volcanic hillside in red volcanic Boomer Loam at 1,000 feet. The 2022 Cabernet went into our Hillside Blend; 2023 is the first vintage we bottled as a stand-alone estate Cabernet.

The Winemaking

Winemaker Mike Lucia. Aged 18 months in American oak, half of it new. 12.9% alcohol — a genuinely low-alcohol Cabernet from a cool year.

Food Pairing

Roasted lamb. Duck confit. Truffle pasta. Aged Gruyère.
