The Wine
The wine the estate was built around. From vines planted in 1982, drawing on deep roots and four decades of hard-won wisdom, the 2022 is dark and velvety — soft, inviting layers of blackberry, boysenberry, and dried cherry giving way to butterscotch and baking spice. Rich without being heavy. This is Dry Creek Zinfandel at its most expressive, structured to drink now or hold for years.
The Vineyard
From the estate’s 1982 plantings — 7+ acres of old-vine Zinfandel in red volcanic Boomer Loam at nearly 1,000 feet, interplanted with Primitivo since 1997. Sitting just below the 30-foot waterfall, the vineyard catches the cool misting air that moderates ripening and preserves the wine’s natural acidity. Among the oldest Zinfandel in active production in Dry Creek Valley.
The Winemaking
Aged 18 months in American oak, half of it new — the source of those butterscotch and baking-spice notes. 15.8% alcohol.
