Last year, my dad and I poured at a large industry tasting in Passadena. At the event, two experienced sommeliers were searching for their first American wine to compliment their growing French wine import and distribution business. H. Mercer Imports scouted hundreds of wines at the event, but ultimately (and happily for us), they selected the wines of Collier Falls as the first American wine in their portfolio.
The two sommeliers who founded H. Mercer Imports are both extremely accomplished in their field. Mark Huddleston worked for Gordon Ramsay and the two michelin star Los Angeles restaurant, Providence. Laurent P. Michit is a native of Burgundy, a Certfied Advanced Sommelier, and has worked at michelin star restaurants in South Africa, France and Spain. Accomplishments aside, what's great for us is how Mark and Laurent are true fans of all our Collier Falls estate wines (definitive proof they do indeed have excellent palates) and how they are excited to help us get Collier Falls in front of as many people as possible.
We're proud of the distinction of being their first domestic wine, but the growth of their company in the past year is equally exciting. They started as a Los Angeles based distribution company, now H. Mercer Imports distributes in Palm Springs and the Bay Area. Most exciting of course, their team is landing some great placements for Collier Falls around the state. Here are a few of them:
- High Times Wine Cellar
- The Farm of Beverly Hills
- Michael's Restaurant
- Geoffrey's Malibu
- The Madison Club - La Quinta
- LG's Steakhouse (Palm Springs & La Quinta)
- Copley's Restaurant
- Michael Mina
- La Folie
- Plumpjack Wine Store
- Blackwell's Wines
If you live near any of these restaurants or wine shops, I hope you can find some time to enjoy a nice bottle of Collier Falls!
