1999 Zinfandel

Winemaker Notes

"This wine exhibits a bouquet of aromas, from creamy vanilla to sweet cherry and raspberry creme. Darker in color (medium dark ruby) and more full-bodied than the previous vintage, it shares both spice and vanillan oak nicely. On the palate, the fruit is very forward, and the tannins are soft and integrated. Just the right level of toastiness provides a long and elegant caramel finish. A delicious complement to many main courses and chocolate!"

- Alex MacGregor, Winemaker

Collier Falls 1999 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel
The 1999 Collier Falls Zinfandel is the winery's third release. The wine shoes how good the 1999 vintage is compared to the difficult 1998 vintage and that Dry Creek Valley is premiere Zinfandel country. The wine has great concentration and color. The nose is bursting with raspberry fruit and creamy vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and the palate shows dark cherry fruit with silky tannins and spicy toasted oak on the finish. This is a wonderful Zinfandel to enjoy over the summer by itself or with grilled meats.

Connoisseurs' Guide, June 2001
Dry Creek Valley. Bright and a bit piquant in smell with a note of tangy raspberries its guiding theme, this ripe but fairly spry young Zinfandel shows plenty of fruit and a bit of snap on the palate.
